Watergate Bay merges into Whipsiderry Beach at Zacry's Island. The coastal path skirts the entrance to Trevelgue Head, which is a worthwhile detour, and drops to Porth Beach. Pause to watch the rhythm of the sea.
PoE19b heads next for St. Colomb Minor. In doing so it uses a route by road and over field, entering the tiny village alongside its pub. The church dates back to the 15th century though unsurprisingly not much from that era remains intact.
Beyond the church yard and the grave stones a shaded lane winds down to the floor of Rialton Valley. It rises and the route follows the upper contours of the valley over fields to Trevelgue Court. This is farming territory that borders onto St. Mawgan airfield. It is remarkably tranquil. Buzzards seem to favour the area and I have rarely visited without seeing one circle above.
Suddenly the peace is somewhere in the distance, replaced by the roar of the B3276 to Newquay. Follow the road back to the beginning and end of PoE19.
