Perhaps in years gone by the nooks and crannies and caves of Whitestone Cove were no strangers to contraband goods. Tourism is now the area's biggest industry. Some farming remains amongst the ice cream stalls and the breaking waves.

The cliff path is varied with spectacular views of the rocky shoreline and gently sloping ascents.

Beyond Porthcothan Beach the route turns inland to Porthcothan Mill, a curiously pretty hamlet, before twisting through woodland, farmland and road.

Tregona is a step backward in time - a lone farmhouse on a windswept road. It is presumeably the nerve centre of the neatly kept surrounding fields. A herd of domestic cats haunt its portals.

Bedruthan is a farmhouse. Not much else apart from a rusting village pump. Strange to think that the pump was once what kept the area alive. A short section of road leads back to the coastal path and the National Trust tea rooms at Carnewas.
