Rock is a salubrious village on the eastern bank of the River Camel. The area bristles with golf clubs. The inland section of this loop crosses two of them.

St. Enodoc church nestles into a bunker on St. Enodoc golf course. The poet John Betjeman loved the area. He lived in nearby Trebetherick and is buried in the grounds of St. Enodoc church.

At Polzeath the route zig zags over Hayle Beach, a vast bay of sand popular with surfers. This is the estuary of the River Camel, which meanders inland from Camelford before turning seaward at Bodmin.

Follow the coastal path to Daymer Bay where boards of all sorts strut their stuff on summer days. When the tide is out it is possible to walk on sand back to Rock. The coastal path rises and dips over sand dunes bound with marram grass. There is rich flora here with certain species of orchid growing wild.

Wait by the flag for the ferry.
