From Portquin the coastal path rises and turns alongside a sea that, in the right sunlight, is aquamarine and clear. Parts of the route resemble brief mountain passes, parts are eerie in their desolation. One never knows what might be seen in sea or sky.

Port Isaac emerges from the landscape - a harbour in a valley of dwellings. The path acquires moments of sophistication - a guest house, an art gallery - and as it turns the corner, the still working harbour.

Beyond Port Gaverene the land enters a brief copse of trees before rising to coastal fields. A wooded valley provides shade from the sun or shelter from the rain. Then the route opens onto the fields of Roscarrock Farm.

Roscarrock Farm is one of the oldest farms in Cornwall. It has been used as the setting for numerous films and was 'Nampara' in the tv adaptation of 'Poldark'.

Enter Potrquin via Howard's Cottage. Stroll down the main street to the harbour and car park.
