PoE10a bristles with history.
The cliff path between Treknow and Tintagel bears much evidence of past slate mining, such as the stack of low grade slate at Dennis Scale and the tons of slate shale outside the Youth Hostel. Tintagel Castle is reputed to be the spot where King Arthur was concieved. The church of St. Merteriana dates back to 13th century and has a relic - a Roman milestone - making reference to the Emporer Licinius (reigned 308-24).
Barras Nose and Smith's Cliff offer restful sea views.
Beyond Bossiney the route turns to tarmac and enters the village of Tintagel. King Arthur memorabillia is difficult to miss in Tintagel. King Arthur's Great Hall is probably the most unusual of such offerings.
Leave urbane matters behind at Treven.
Follow the fields, cross a road and some more fields. Emerge from undergrowth into Treknow.
