In contrast to its neighbouring loop, PoE6b is short and sharp.
It dives via the richly vegetated Lovers Lane to Crackington Haven - a bay of pebbles with a variety of seasonal cafes and a pub that opens throughout the year. The route loops through the village, making an eight out this brief loop.
And the coastal path rises steeply, dips and rises steeply. This is not the gentle but determined incline of PoE6a. It is steep and soon done. Views reach seaward through 180 degrees.
A ridge leads north to the join between loops which starts at a thin forest of sycamore trees then rises over fields back to St. Gennys.
After the rigours of PoE6a, done in high summer sun, I have sometimes despaired at the anticipated effort to complete this eight in one go. On those occasions when I have made the effort, it has always been worthwhile. This is not simply about the satisfaction inherent in completion, but for the inclusion of such variety in a single walk.
