PoE 6 is a long, tough eight with varied and beautiful landscape. It is one of my personal favourites.
The start point - St. Gennys - is a tiny somewhat remote village that is cosy or exposed depending on the weather. A 12th century church dedicated to *St. Genesius snuggles into the contours of its terrain. Views over the Atlantic from the churchyard are breathtaking.
The landscape of this eight is nothing if not varied. Woodland features large with inland ancient broadleaf forest and cliff edge sissal oak woods. Meadows provide rare and valued nurture for wild fauna and flora; there is farmland, beach and cliff.
Crackington Haven is a small seaside village with a thriving if transient summertime population. The removal of pebbles from Crackington Haven's beach is vigorously policed in a casually alarming manner. I was once asked to return a few rocks to their rightful place after having been followed to the car park by a muscular and assertive local.

*Much controvesy rages over the connection of St. Genesius to Cornwall.
The best known St Genesius is the 3rd century Genesius of Rome, previously an actor. While performing a part that ridiculed Christian Baptism Genesius was suddenly visited by God and converted to Christianity on stage. Refusing to recant his newfound faith, Genesius was eventually beheaded on the orders of Roman Emporer Diocletian.
Genesius of Rome is patron saint of actors, clowns and fools with no known connection to Cornwall.
The respected Cornish hagiographer Doble (1880- 1945) tentatively traces the titular connection to Llangenys in Wales from where many of the Cornish saints originated.
