During early summer months, a delicate army of butterfly larvae gratefully destroy the cattle feed on the cliff top above Long Rock. By June the pupated imago are on the wing and dancing with innocenece in a field of cabbages. This is one distraction I have encountered during a trip along PoE3b.

It is a short, flat stretch of coastal walking. At the summit of Bucket Hill I usually feel on top of the world before plunging to the delightful Northcott Mouth.

An excellent seasonal cafe operates from a green caravan as the route turns inland. Enjoy your refreshment in their lovingly tended grounds and watch Mayfly skim a stream.

The return leg is over fields often sown with cereal. It is Corn Flake territory. Butterflies frolic, a lone ram bleats from behind a low stone wall, the track twists from maize to oats.

And then a tunnel of random shrubs guides the overheated walker to tarmac and the beginning and end of this loop.
