A field of Devon Red cattle frequent the space between Stanbury and the Composite Siganls Station. They ruminate as they have always done, seemingly oblivious to their high tech neighhbour. The image sets the scene for this loop, which is populated by cows and satellite dishes.

Stanbury Beach can be accessed from the valley running to Stanbury Mouth. The ascent following the valley is the steepest climb of the loop. The rest of its coastal section is easy going and terminates at Steeple Point where panoramic views of the area can be enjoyed.

A short section of tarmac heading through the village of Coombe leads to Hollygrove Wood. This is a pleasant stroll in deciduous woodland. A stream - one that once powered a mill in Coombe - flows towards Duckpool. The rise when it comes is long and relentless. It leads via farmland back to Stanbury.

This loop is one of contrast - tradition mixing with modernity; tough and easy going; a village but no refreshments.
